Objectives:

On completion of this module, participants will develop an understanding of:

  1. How to assess of the risk of acquiring HIV infection from different types of exposures to blood and/or body fluids in the work place or community setting.
  2. When and how to prescribe PEP, and appropriate follow-up of patients after an exposure.

Dr. Marianne Harris is the Chair of the Post-Exposure Prophylaxis Committee of the BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS, a sub-committee of the Committee for Drug Evaluation and Therapy. She is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Practice, UBC Faculty of Medicine and an Associate Member of the Division of AIDS, UBC Department of Medicine.
