Dr. Viviane Dias Lima
 has been an Associate Professor at UBC since 2016 and a Research Scientist and Senior Statistician at the British Columbia Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS (BC-CfE) since 2006. Her area of research focus has been on the epidemiology and control of the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV).

Based on her extensive training in statistics, epidemiology and mathematical modelling, she develops innovative models of disease progression and transmission to understand the potential impact of behavioural and health care interventions on the HIV epidemic. Since commencing her research career, she has received numerous national/international awards, published over 150 peer-reviewed papers in high-impact journals, and trained several junior researchers. She has been part of numerous national/international collaborations and an advisor for several national/ international agencies. Currently, she has CIHR and MSFHR salary awards, and she is the principal investigator on two grants and a co-investigator on eight grants.
