Diego S. Silva joined the Faculty of Health Science at Simon Fraser University in September 2015 as Assistant Professor specializing in bioethics and public health ethics. His research focuses on public health ethics and global health ethics. He uses and combines moral and political philosophy, philosophical argumentation and empirical bioethics approaches, particularly qualitative methods, to conduct his research. He completed his PhD, which focused on ethical and political issues in the prevention and treatment of tuberculosis (TB) in persons with severe and persistent mental illnesses, at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto in 2013. His main research project currently focuses on ethical and political challenges related to new TB technologies, in addition to working with the World Health Organization on broader topics related to ethics and TB.
