Unique Training Opportunity

Enhanced Skills Program H2SUM (HIV, Viral Hepatitis, Substance Use Disorder and Mental Health)

In collaboration with the Enhanced Skills Program (PGY3) in the Department of Family Practice at the University of British Columbia (UBC), the BC-CfE and the VCH – Vancouver Department of Family and Community Practice is pleased to offer a 3-month postgraduate training program.

BC-CfE's Clinical Education and Training Program

The Clinical Education and Training Program at the BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS is designed to provide learning opportunities on the diagnosis, treatment, management and care of HIV/AIDS and related conditions through personalized learning programs. Training is offered to health care professionals, allied health professionals, community frontline workers and students throughout British Columbia, Canada, and abroad.

Training is based on current scientific evidence and is subject to change. Training should not be relied on by any person as a substitute for specific medical advice from a qualified practitioner. Attendees are responsible for using their independent judgement and expertise in the context of individual clinical circumstances. The BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS is designed to provide learning opportunities on the diagnosis, treatment, management and care of HIV/AIDS and related conditions through personalized learning programs. Training is offered to health care professionals, allied health professionals, community frontline workers and students throughout British Columbia, Canada, and abroad.

Dr. Val Montessori

Director of Clinical Education
Co-chair of the CDET of the BC-CfE, Head-Division of Infectious Diseases SPH
Dr. Montessori certified as a specialist in Internal Medicine at UBC and then continued her training as an Infectious Diseases Fellow with a subsequent Research Fellowship with the Canadian HIV Trials Network.

What You Will Learn

The BC-CfE Clinical Education and Training Program provides high quality learning opportunities on the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, management and care of HIV/AIDS, viral hepatitis, and related conditions through personalized learning programs.
The BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS has developed this online course for all health care professionals in the province of BC to support their continuing medical education needs. This course is designed to allow learners to access up-to-date knowledge on the treatment and management of people living with HIV. The course offers information applicable to clinical practice and quality patient care.

This course is designed to allow learners to access up-to-date knowledge on the use of HIV pre- and post-exposure chemoprophylaxis for HIV prevention. The course is informed by new BC-CfE pre- and post-exposure prophylaxis guidelines and will offer new skills and knowledge applicable to clinical practice and quality patient care. Course Syllabus
